Clubmall is an online fashion retailer selling clothing and apparel-related products across brands and categories. The proposition combines shopping with a social layer, giving customers a way to discover, share and connect around what they buy rather than browsing a catalogue alone. Eternalight built the platform end to end: the consumer website, consumer mobile applications for iOS and Android, the administrative application, and the order fulfilment system behind both of them.
Clubmall evaluated Shopify and found it could not carry the platform they needed, since several required integrations were unavailable, some sections resisted customisation, and a dedicated app sat outside what it readily allowed. Hosted commerce stops fitting at a specific point: when merchandising mechanics become the product rather than a setting within it.

Apparel does not behave like general merchandise. One product exists across sizes and colours with independent stock, belongs to a brand, sits in a category hierarchy, and carries seasonal relevance that changes several times a year. Get that model wrong and every later feature inherits the mistake, since discounts and recommendations both depend on it.
Flash sales, daily drops, seasonal campaigns, recommended placements, and highly customised discounts all had to be defined and launched by the admin team. A flash sale requiring a developer, a deployment, and a release window is not a flash sale, and fashion retail responds to weather, trend, and inventory position within a single day.
The build spanned the consumer website, apps on both stores, the admin application, order management and fulfilment, payments, an affiliate program with commissions, a recommendation engine, and a social layer. These are not independent, since an app order must reach the same pipeline as a web one and a commission depends on an order paid and not returned.
Custom commerce platforms are usually a mistake, since hosted platforms have absorbed years of work on payments, tax, fraud, and checkout conversion. The test that justifies building is narrow: does the business compete on something the platform treats as configuration? For Clubmall the answer was yes in three places at once, in merchandising mechanics, in recommendations on its own data, and in the social and affiliate layer.
The platform models brands, categories, products, and the variant depth apparel requires, with a merchandising system layered on top covering custom discount rules, flash sales, daily drops, seasonal campaigns, and recommended placement. Because discounts target a brand, category, product, or variant, merchandisers express a promotion the way they actually think about it.
A recommendation engine was built on what customers browse as well as what they purchase. Purchase data is accurate but sparse and describes what someone already owns, while browsing data is abundant and expresses intent that never converted, which in fashion is most of it. Combining both means the engine learns from the majority of sessions.
An affiliate program covering customers and influencers tracks commission in-platform, alongside referrals, shareable collections, reviews with customer photographs, and profile following. These are one system, since a shared wishlist and an influencer link are the same event, so attribution and reward logic are written once and serve both.
Order management, fulfilment, and payments were built as microservices over a message queue on AWS, with S3 and CloudFront for media. Flash sales deliberately concentrate demand, so the queue makes placing an order a fast reliable write while slower fulfilment and commission work proceeds behind it without holding up the customer.
The platform sustains availability above 99.9 percent. In commerce, downtime is not degraded service but zero revenue, and a flash sale during an outage is a promotion spent on nobody at all.
Checkout response times stay under two seconds. Checkout is the one point where latency converts directly into abandoned carts, since a customer who has decided to buy reconsiders while waiting.
The architecture delivered a fivefold increase in infrastructure capability, which is what lets the platform absorb the concentrated demand that flash sales and daily drops are designed to create.
Eternalight built Clubmall on React for the consumer web and admin applications, with React Native delivering the iOS and Android apps from one codebase. Node.js services run as microservices over a message queue with MongoDB behind them, deployed on AWS. Amazon S3 stores catalogue media and CloudFront delivers it, which matters in fashion where images drive both page speed and desire.
